Bring out the flavour in food without adding more salt and get into the habit of eating healthy.

Just like some people have a sweet tooth, there are others who crave for that salty taste more often which is as bad as having a craving for sweets. However, you can get over it by including these alternatives in your diet and reduce your salt intake.

- Add lemon juice, orange zest to bring out a citrusy flavour in your food. They also act as a preservative giving the same effect as salt but without the salty taste.

- Sprinkle some herbs and spices to your favourite dishes which can transform any dish into extraordinary. Thyme, basil, cilantro, mint can make for a nice salt free seasonings.

- Use vinegar as a marinade instead of salt. It not only helps tenderise the meat but also adds to the flavour when combined with other spices.

- The strong flavours of garlic and ginger add a special kick to any dish reducing the need for extra sodium, not to mention the health properties attached to them.

- Freshly grated cheese can boost the flavour of any dish and even salads too.
